One afternoon in 1986, Michael and I went to buy hay for our horses. While there, we saw a beautiful red tri male watching us from a distance. We asked if the dog ever sired any puppies? "Yes." We were directed around to the far side of the haystack and found a bunch of fur-balls all clamoring for our attention. But only one of them could crawl on top of the bales that made up their pen. He was a blue merle male who stole our hearts and who eventually became CH. Powder Blue Kasey, CDX, STD-c, OTD-ds.

Over the next 9 1/2 years, Kasey taught us about throwing balls and rocks, catching snowballs, chasing sticks, fishing and swimming, obedience, herding, conformation, and basically just how wonderful this breed truly is.

Even though Kasey is no longer with us, he is the spirit that embodies everything that we strive to achieve in our breeding program: soundness of body and mind, intelligence, strong herding instincts, pretty to look at, and most of all a joy to live with.

"Dude" came to live with us as an adult, and, even though he had lived in a kennel most of his life, he quickly and happily fit into our home. We had purchased Dude to breed to one of our girls; however, we unfortunately found out that he was already sterile. So, instead of being the man of the house, Dude became my Mom's constant companion.  Dude lived his last years just being a "dog"...sleeping on the bed, going to the beach, and, most of all, being Mom's best friend!

"Blueberry" was the first Aussie we bought as a show prospect; and now, fifteen years later, I don't know where we would be without her! She tolerated the show ring...as long as you didn't touch her feet and let her fix herself! But where Blueberry really excelled was in the whelping box. Her first litter in 1991 produced ASCA/AKC CH. WTCH Shadowruns Quintessence, CD, CGC, DNA-CP and CH. Shadowruns Reba Two. We were so pleased with the cross that we repeated it in 1993, which produced BISS. CH. Shadowruns Pebbles in the Sand, CD, STD-c, ASCA/AKC CH. Shadowruns on the Rox, CDX, CH. Shadowruns Night Rider, and CH. Shadowruns Blue Richocet. These pups easily qualified Blueberry for her Hall of Fame status. Sadly, Blueberry passed over to the rainbow bridge in November of 2003. She is greatly missed by all of us, but her presence remains with us in the spirits and the hearts of her children and grandchildren that live with us everyday.

Scooter's puppy names were "Toot" & "Tike", but later the T-N-T stood for the little ball of dynamite that she grew into! What Scooter lacks in trim and flash, she more than makes up for in her charisma and explosive movement. She turned many heads in her day, finishing easily at 1 1/2 years old and immediately taking the breed ring by storm. She garnered multiple breed and opposite wins, most notably going Best of Breed at the 1992 ASC of Arizona Silver Specialty under breeder judge Sara Roberts and a Premier Champion Award at the 1992 ASCA National Specialty. Scooter also excelled in obedience earning multiple High in Trial awards while completing the requirements for her C.D. Now, at fourteen years old, Scooter is still my most faithful companion, following me everywhere I go during the day and peacefully sleeping next to me every night.

Quinn's litter arrived early while we were out of town. When we returned, the puppies were three days old. I walked in, sat down in the whelping box, immediately picked Quinn up and said, "You're mine!" He was a quiet, gentle puppy and has grown into a regal, handsome man. He has always known that he was something special and has always carried a very dignified air of confidence about him. Quinn finished easily; taking his first Best of Breed win out of the classes at the age of 9 months under breeder judge Sharon Herbert. He continued his winning ways taking over 20 Best of Breed wins over the next two years. In 1994-1995, Quinn was ranked #9 in the nation, and we were especially proud of the fact that he was the only dog in the top 20 that year with either a CD or herding titles. Quinn squeaked by in the obedience ring, only doing it because we asked him to, but herding is another story! It could be 110 degrees in our desert heat, but Quinn would never quit working until all the cows came home!

Pebbles is the quiet type who hangs out in the background just waiting for her turn. She is also one of the soundest dogs we have ever bred. She is incredibly clean coming and going and has beautiful, flowing side gait. She is not a big girl, but she is a lot of dog in a small package. Pebbles was a little slow to mature, but once she did she never looked back. She took her first Best of Breed win out of the Bred-By class over 12 specials. The judge said she had the best shoulders she had ever felt on an Aussie. In 1997, she went Best Opposite at the ASC of Arizona Silver Specialty. The next year, 1998, she went Best of Breed at both the ASC of Arizona Silver Specialty pre-show and the Silver Specialty. And the following year, she went Most Promising Started Aussie and Most Versatile Aussie again at the ASC of Arizona Silver Specialty. At one show, while taking a Best of Breed win photo, the judge told me that Pebbles took her breath away the first time she went around the ring and then, throughout the class, she never let her down!

If you asked Sky, he would tell you that the sun rose just for him today! He is the happiest dog we have ever known, and he is an absolute joy to live with. Sky came to us at a very special time in our lives, two years after losing Kasey and just when we were ready to open our hearts up to another dog. He jumped right in!!! In many ways, there is a little bit of Kasey in him, yet in other ways, he is his own little man. Sky reminds us everyday of how simple life really is, and he always makes us smile and laugh.
